Baking in 2014...

This has been a big year for me when it comes to baking. Back in January I was thinking that I would be done with baking, but then February rolled around and after an order for 100 Valentine sugar cookies it has just taken off from there. We have also learned what happens to Penny when she eats a dozen sugar cookies. She is okay for the first 24 hours, but after that it's gas and discomfort for Crazy Penny.

There was a little re-branding, with my new name and logo. It was not easy coming up with my new name, Sugar Shenanigans, I really feel like I have grown into my new name. (Plus I LOVE the word shenanigans.)

We have slowly turned out breakfast nook into my baking area.

I now own two Kitchen aid mixers.

I am the proud owner of a bun rack. Really, it makes me laugh every time I say it. I wonder if that will wear off.

These are just a few the Shenanigans of 2014...

  1. Olaf/Frozen cookies for Avery
  2. Sock Monkey cookies, I am sad I didn't make these for Carson when she was younger.
  3. Love and Dragon Flies for Dan & Judy's anniversary
  4. Ice Cream and Cupcakes
  5. Flowers, and the first cookies I sent in the mail.
  6. Ladybugs, Cows and love.
  7. Pokemon for my girls' birthday.
  8. Dr. Seuss cookies, I can't wait to make more of these.
  9. Peeps! Way better than actual Peeps, in my opinion.

  1. Superhero cookies for a 3-year-old's birthday
  2. More love cookies for an engagement party.
  3. Christmas, Christmas, Christmas!
  4. Angels and gold starts. I really love these angels.
  5. Arkansas cookies, I love the hog cookies. I made OU, OSU and WVU cookies too.
  6. Elf on a Shelf. My kids missed the whole elf on the shelf craze, and I was nervous about these cookies, but they turned out great.
  7. Thanksgiving. Love the turkeys made with flower cookie cutters.
  8. Music theme cookies.
  9. Pigeon cookies, my kids are too old for this character, but I hear the books are very popular. These cookies were a big hit with the kindergarten class.
There have also been a few cakes and cupcakes sprinkled in here and there.

German chocolate cake for my father-in-law's birthday. Seriously, I think I used up every dish in my kitchen with this one.

Dark chocolate nutella cake for my mother-in-law's birthday. (I see a theme developing here.)

I have tried out some new things this year. I aspire to make macaroons. I did make one batch and I think they turned out good.

I think the theme is chocolate and not in-laws.

It's been a year full of baking, and I hope that 2015 brings even more.

Free Yoga, A Run and Chocolate...

I <3 Lululemon.

They opened a showroom just down the street from my work and they have a free yoga class on Thursday nights. Different instructors each week means the class is always different, it fits right in with my goal of focusing more on yoga in 2013.

Tonight they had meditating and goal setting after the class.

During the meditation they had us focus on where our life would be in ten years. It actually freaked me out a bit and mde me feel a little sad. My girls will be 22 years old in ten years, all I could think was holy cow.

The process was to think where we wanted to be health/career/personal in ten years and then plan more recent goals in reverse. I have goals for 2013, but long term I have no idea where I want to be in ten years.

I plan to work on this.

I meet Ro, Abby and Laura this morning for a run. We planned to run five miles, first mile easy and the pick up the pace from there. My Garmin said it was five miles in just under 43 minutes. It was cold and humid but not windy, which was nice.

The four miles were between 8:15 and 8:30 pace and I had a hard time keep up, and while I didn't feel like I was going to die the entire time it definitely was a hard run.

I went ninja style with as many layers as possible.

I used the pony tail hole in the hood of my jacket. Not sure if it is a good look for me or not.

I am having a small problem with my shoes. I can't remember the last time I gasped a blister n this part of my foot. It was quite painful.

It was quite a boring day for food, but I did have some chocolate after lunch.

The chocolate and caramel was my favorite.

Three Down...

It's always nice when the day feels like a Monday but is actually a Wednesday and that much closet to the weekend.

How random is this? Josh and I used to live in an apartment in northwest Oklahoma City and there was just a story on the news about an apartment fire there. Crazy!

The kiddos went back to school today, they didn't even get two full weeks off for the holidays. Their vacation was six days shorter than their day's was. Let me say they were in fabulous moods this morning when they got up, they did get a little more cheerful by the time I left for work. Maybe they were just hungry when they woke up.

No running or working out today, we were supposed to be doing Pilates with Patti, but that was cancelled so this week Wednesday=rest day. That's okay with me. I had time to get my hair colored before work this morning.

I gave up spending big bucks on getting my hair colored a couple of years ago. Now I a super cheap and do my hair in a Dave Ramsey approved fashion.

I bout this a while ago and I have no idea how much it cost me. When I feel like my roots are getting darker (Read: dingy) than I like I just spray a little on my roots and pull out the hair dryer. No actual sun needed.

About four months ago or so I stopped drying my hair on a regular basis, so I had to commit to the 11 minutes it takes to blow dry my hair now.

I was going to post a picture of my wash and go style, but every picture I have of me I am in running clothes and my hair is pulled back.

This picture is from October. You would think I live in running clothes and pony tails.

Anyway, here is how it turned out. I don't think my hair has ever been this long. The secret is to never have a hair appointment scheduled and then you aren't compelled to chop it all off.

I received a package at work today from a company that we do business with, it had chocolate in it. So I had an afternoon chocolate snack today.

Chocolate makes me happy.
