L Is For...

LOVE--Happy Valentine's Day! The kiddos were very excited when they discovered that we got them My Little Pony t-shirts for Valentine's Day.

LAB RESULTS--I got the reports from the blood work I had done a few weeks ago. It had not gotten my blood work done last year, but I needed to have my cholesterol checked to make sure it was still under 200. Looks like I passed the test.

LEARNING--I am still loving the level 1 yoga class I have been taking at Ashtanga Yoga. Last week I did my first ever assisted full bridge. Today we worked on headstands. I am still a long way from doing an actual headstand, but we did lots of little pieces that will eventually turn into a headstand.

I demonstrated a little when I got home.

I should have been a little closer to the wall in an effort to get the upper part of my body to be straight over my arms. I did get into this position in class tonight. It really remnded me how weak my little spaghetti arms are. I am hoping all the vinyasas are helping though. Each little improvement seems like a huge thing to me with my yoga practice.

LEFTOVERS--For the third day in a row, my dinner has looked like this.

Chickpea taos with leftover roasted veggies. If you have never had chickpea tacos you are seriously missing out. I used the Rick Bayless Classic Fajita Skillet Sauce. It has chipotle ad line and it is so yummy. This particular flavor is now my favorite, I think this will be the only one I buy from now on.

LEAVING--Josh is heading out of town tonight to go ice fishing with friends. That does not sound like fun to me at all. The girls and I have plans to go to the movies and out to eat this weekend. I am looking forward to a weekend with my girls.

Recap of 2013...

It is almost 2013, so I thought I would sum up the year.

Lets start with the numbers.

  • 851, the numbers of miles I ran this year. (Not bad considering I had to take three months off.)
  • 117.3, the numbers of miles I spent on my bike. This does not include the countless spin classes I did in my three month running hiatus.
  • 11.6, the miles spent in the pool. I'm going to have to increase this and the miles on the bike in 2013.
  • 2 half marathons
  • 3 5ks
  • 1 sprint triathlon
  • 1 Olympic distance triathlon
  • 1 Ragnar Relay (30, the approximate number of hours spent in relay van)
  • 3, the number of races I had paid for and missed due to injury
  • 1 tibial stress fracture
  • 1 fall that resulted in a ruined run
In all, the year has had many highs, as well as some lows. I faced my fears, running in the middle of the night in Colorado and doing my first open water swim in the Redman Olympic distance triathlon.

I also got to go back to Virginia with my sisters and kiddos to visit my aunts. We also took the girls on a week long Disney cruise. I hope we can take another cruise some day.

Josh and I got to spend a weekend celebrating our 16th wedding anniversary, and my babies turned 12 and started 7th grade. In all it was a great year, and I have big plans for 2013.

A Bit of Randomness...

I thought I would share a little bit about me that you might not know.

  • My first blog post was on March 29, 2009
  • I was born in West Virginia when my mom was visiting her sisters. I think she was about 34 weeks pregnant and she had no idea she was having twins.
  • I didn't start running until I was 35. I had run a couple of 5k races before that but I could barely run three miles without stopping.
  • I do not have a green thumb. We have two plants in our house. One is an ivy that no longer has leaves, the other is a cactus that has only survived as long as it has because it doesn't need watered regularly.
  • I collect salt and pepper shakers. My first set are pink flamingos circa 1982 that my MIL bought me.
  • I don't regularly watch the local news. I always say that if its important Jon Stewart will tell me about it on The Daily Show.
  • I do not like putting up Christmas decorations. I like putting them away after Christmas even less.
  • I have no tattoos and aside from my ears being pierced once I have no additional piercings.
  • I love to knit and I taught myself how to crochet by watching YouTube.
  • I am a big fan of dessert. Any time you come to my house you will almost always find homemade cookies.
  • My pantry might be out of bread or cheese but you can usually always find the ingredients for chocolate chip cookies.
  • I hate clutter. It doesn't seem to bother my daughters though. We usually keep their bedroom doors closed.
  • I am a morning person. Because of that it is about my bedtime.
How about you? Leave a comment and share something random about yourself.
