There is not much worse than waking up in the middle of the night to spend an extended amount of time in the bathroom, but that is exactly how my day started. I got up at 2 am the first time and I have spent the entire day feeling like total crap.
I had planned to meet the girls for hill repeats, but I knew early on that I wasn't going to make it. I hate missing a good workout.
I slept off and on all day, and tried to rehydrate myself with a water bottle full of grape Nuun. Nuun, it's not just for post-run hydration, you can also use it for hangovers and stomach viruses.
The dogs didn't realize the doors of their kennels were open until this afternoon. Rocky hung out on the black couch and at about 2 pm when I couldn't lay in bed any longer Penny joined me on the couch. Then they waited with me until the girls got home from school.
Overall, a totally crappy day. I had a little bit of jello, but food is not my friend. Maybe we can work on rebuilding our relationship tomorrow.
I'm a runner, a baker and a vegetarian. This is my life, it's a work in progress.

WIAW #8...The Birthday Edition...
My birthday was Monday and we did some celebrating over the weekend. So this WIAW post is going to be about dinner Saturday night and dinner Monday night. All the rest of the food in between was the same old boring stuff I eat all the time.
As I posted previously we got together with some friends and had dinner on Saturday night at Local, a new restaurant in Norman that used to be a Furrs.
There were adult beverages...
Gotta love when the waiter will bring you a glass of wine that was poured by mistake on your birthday. I should have paid closer attention to which one it was because it was wonderful. The short one is a Thunder Up! Everyone is getting in on the Thunder mania in OKC.
I went with the Ratatouille. This is not something I've ever had before and I liked it. For some reason I thought there would be some sort of starch in it, but underneath that awesomely poached egg was all veggies. They were yummy. There was white chocolate cheesecake and chocolate cake for dessert, but I was too busy eating them to take a picture.
Monday night Josh and the girls wanted to take me to dinner so we went to my new favorite Mexican restaurant Chuy's. I tried something new and got the fish tacos.
I even with with the grilled fish instead of the fried fish. Gotta try to be a little bit healthy with my choices. I don't eat fish that often anymore, but these were very good. I'll have to get them again.
No dessert for me, but the girls got push pops.

Carson got about half way through hers and decided she didn't want anymore, we happened to be in the car at the time. Who wants to eat the rest of their kid's melty, slobbered all over push pop to keep it from dripping all over the car? Definitely not me.
It was a great birthday. I can't wait for the mailman to deliver my iPad. I also get to have lunch with my friend Stacy today so I might have a picture of something different from my everyday food next week.

Happy Birthday to Me...
Tomorrow I will be 38. Man, I remember when my parents were 38 I thought they were so old! I sure hope my kiddos don't think of me like that because I don't feel old.
It has sure been a great weekend. After getting cleared by my doctor to run again last week, I met up with my girls on Friday morning for a run and it was BEAUTIFUL outside. They ran 4.5 and I did about 3.5. It was slow and there was walking but it felt so good to be outside doing what I love at 5:15 in the morning. Saturday morning we met up again and I did about the same distance while they did six miles on one of my favorite out and back routes. I never thought I would say that I can't wait to run some hills again. We followed up the run with weights {shoulders and biceps I think it was} and some sauna time.
Afterwards I headed home for a nap. We were heading out for my birthday Saturday night and I wanted to rest up. First I had to make some peanut butter dog treats for a very special dog.
Lance was turning 10 on Saturday. I had to bake up some love for a fellow Gemini. Lance works at OK Runner, my favorite running store. He seemed to like the treats I made him. I have to remember next time to make them bigger. I think he might have swallowed one of them whole. His mouth is a lot bigger than the ones we have around here.
Afterwards I got some errands in and then got ready to head out to Local for dinner with friends.
This is a free glass of wine our waiter brought me, it was yummy. It is also the Thunder Up that I ordered. It was also delicious.
I don't know who he thinks he's fooling. Afterwards we headed over to Kim and Dwight's house to hang out by the pool and continue the festivities. There were some firsts that happened, but I won't go into them. Let's just say it was a great birthday.

You might be wondering where all the boys were during all these pictures. Well we had the girls on one end of the table and the girls on the other and it worked out fabulously. We had drinks...
Then there was the food. I had the...
RATATOUILLE // 10
seasonal roasted vegetables in tomato basil broth, toasted bread, soft poached egg
Josh had the...
MEATLOAF CUPCAKES // 14 mushroom sauce, goat cheese biscuit
Dessert was the cheesecake I have been dreaming about.
WHITE CHOCOLATE CHEESECAKE // 6 pistachio crust, caramel and pistachio brittle
But we couldn't get just one dessert so we also got the...
FLOURLESS CHOCOLATE CAKE // 6 vanilla gelato, fresh raspberry
As we were leaving Josh took the opportunity to make himself look taller than me for a change.

Tomorrow morning I get to meet everyone for a fun to celebrate my birthday. We are meeting up at 5am, so I better get some sleep.

Dreaming of Cheesecake...
I am completely addicted to pistachios. The first step is admitting you have a problem, right? Well since Carson and I discovered that we love pistachios I have had them pretty much daily.
(I am sure this should slow down eventually, it's a pretty expensive habit.)
So when I had lunch with a few of my favorite girls on Friday, the day before one of them became a new mom, we went to Local. It was really good. If I were a better person I would have take pictures of what I ate, instead I'll have to just give you pictures of the menu.
We started with the truffle chips, the three dipping sauces were awesome. I can't remember what any of them were called but one had blue cheese, one was green and one was red. Kinda looked like ketchup, but it was so not ketchup.
I had the Farmers Market salad, and it was yummy. I could do without the asparagus, but that's just me, I did fine someone else at my table that was willing to eat them.
Every once in a while rather than sticking with my usual vegetarian diet I will have shelfish or fish. This was one of those times. I hate to say that this was yummy, but it really was. And there was a ton of food. Two tacos and some veggies on the side. I could only finish one.

And then there was dessert. I actually had a dream about this cheesecake last night and I can't stop thinking about it. I might need to go get a piece to go later. It's a good thing there were four others at the table and we were sharing it, or I might have eaten the entire thing. It was like heaven on a plate. Really.
I really liked Local and I can't wait to go back.
